Photos Galore in Disneyland

The previous HK post was messed up. The alignment all went wrong as what I saw when writing end up is different from what is posted. So shall put pics in group and post. Save time too.

Spent one whole day at Disneyland. For a newbie like me, HK Disneyland is impressive enough. And got a Halloween theme somemore. Pretty cool huh. And we went on a Monday, so queues for everything are relatively short. We managed to take almost every ride in the day there. Still got some miss out.. Its just too many things to see. I wonder why so many people complain about the Disneyland. Its pretty good, unless you equate it to some thrill ride theme park like Dreamworld and thought its similar, then you probably will have a good time here.

Adventureland is one of the 3 lands there, the other 2 being Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. This one has a Tarzan’s treehouse

A boat ride which I find pretty cool. Prepare to get wet though.

A small world.. Too kiddish for me

The Disney Parade. Everyone lines up along the street to catch it

slide11

Really love the parade. But I wonder whether the performers are sick of doing it, having to perform the same thing over and over again, repeating the moves down the street, everyday.

After the parade, its another show. Simba the Lion King.

slide15

A haunted trail at the Demon Jungle. Go in and there are people inside to scare the shit out of you. I was too busy laughing at bubu to actually feel scared. There is another trail, the Haunted Hotel. But the ‘ghosts and vampires’ say scary stuff in Cantonese. So I cant understand a shit.

Night time calls for lighting up of the place.

slide17

The special Halloween Parade. I love this more than the daytime Parade.

And to end it off are some fireworks at Sleeping Beauty castle. Sorry camera not power enough to show the fireworks, but can see the building changing color la. Its a very nice fireworks show, got storyline somemore.

slide20

Say goodbye. Worth a visit, but a 2nd time there? Maybe not so soon unless there is a special Christmas theme or something.

slide21

Oh, the subway to Disneyland is very interesting too. There are Mickey Mouse handles in the train, and windows with his shape too. But 1 stop only. They should have a longer route for tourists to enjoy the train more. It will be pretty sickening for locals though, imagine going to work on a sucky Monday morning in this subway, totally don’t fit the mood. A Monday morning should be taking a poorly maintained train packed with people, to start off the day in the most sucky manner. Get your Monday blues and the rest of the week will be better as it gets along.

Trip to Hong Kong Part 1

While back in Singapore, I managed to steal a short trip to HK with bubu. It aint cheap though, costs almost near $1k for accom (4D3N), flights (Cathay Pacific), a visit to Madame Tussads, and Disneyland. Booked the tour with Newly Tours. So far they have given good value for our trip and bubu’s sis trip abroad. So peeps, you can try the agency for the next time. Located at B1 at People’s Park Centre. With all the promotion by Tiger Airways though, I have an inkling that the cheapest way there will be to take a flight to Macau and then a ferry to HK. Next time I go must visit Macau too, heard that JC is working in a casino there, so damn cool lor.

Stayed at Prudential Hotel which is right on top of Jordan MTR. And the place looked so familiar, I am sure I stayed in the same hotel when I was there 8 years ago! Pretty nice place, v accessible by MTR but limited channels on TV, no BPL.

Took the MTR, 1st stop we visited Causeway Bay.

And over there, found probably my favourite meal in my 4 days there. Not sure how to go there again. Can someone start selling this in Singapore? or Haifa?

Hong Kong celebrates Halloween. I wonder why they do and Singapore don’t? Hey LL from STB, can you answer me?

There is Halloween Ice Cream (made of sesame and mango swirl), big pumpkin decorations all round at Times Square and a Halloween Theme in Disneyland (to be shown later).

And this leads us to our 1st 杨枝甘露 of the trip (we had 4 in total). For those who aint sure what it is, it is a HK dessert made of mango and pomelo, with some sago, jelly and coconut juice etc. 满记 was good but just wait till you try the one from 许留山. Good recommendation from Simon.

满记 had another very good dish though. Its the durian pancake, beats most versions from Singapore hands down.

Next morning, we went for a very boring sampan ride at Aberdeen. On one side, are the yachts of the mega-rich such as Li Ka-Shing and Leon Lai. Yet a hundred meters down, are people living on boats, some of the poorest people in HK. Isn’t it ironic that they are actually neighbours. But it seems that there are less of the boat people nowadays, most of them have 上岸 so there isn’t really much to see.

Then we went to the peak to visit Madame Tussauds’ wax museum. Didn’t have time to view the evening scenery (which is a must see according to most people), shall put it on my priority list next time.

Madame Tussads has a lot of wax figures. And the most precious one is.. Jackie Chan. No photos with him, only can take with the museum photographers and buy the photos from them. Don’t wear green coz wont be able to see your clothes due to digital background or something.

An idol for many chinese people, Bruce Lee.

Molesting Michelle Yeoh

Leo Ku, he looks damn real.

Every girl’s sweetheart, Baey Yong Jun.

Brangelina

Andy Lau has a real heart. It really beats.

Realised that I can go on and on with the waxes without stopping

There’s many more, but is there a Jay Chou? The tour guide asked whether we took a photo with Jay, but cant find him in there, is she smoking us?

And then we rushed for a 25 min cable car ride to visit Ngong Ping village. You can see the BIG buddha there, but the real highlight there is Citygate, a shopping centre of many factory outlets. Goods may be a bit off season but its really cheap.

The Buddha is really big, but bubu can hold it in her hands. Did not take a frontal view of Buddha though coz 1) bubu don’t want to climb the many steps and 2) the cable car return queue is sooooo long that we started queuing to go back after we had a dessert there. Lucky saw some tour mates who let us cut queue, if not got to queue for extra 1 hour!

Rushed back after some shopping to see the Symphony of Lights at the Arena of Stars. The skyline is made so beautiful by this 8pm show.

We then tried finding Soon Seng’s ‘best pork chop rice in his life’ at Lock Road. Couldn’t find it. So settled for a dinner at 澳门大排档. Heard that portugese egg tarts are v famous in Macau. The ones here are so so only. Next time will have to take a trip to Macau for the real thing.

Wow, din realise I have been slacking in office for so long updating the blog. Disneyland trip pictures on the next post (remind myself : update @ home)
