Are you free this Saturday?

If so, please visit Hong Lim park, the Speakers Corner  at 5 p.m where TOC (The Online Citizen) is going to discuss issues about public transport. More details on their site. They even declared it a public transport week on the website where they will talk about several issues on public transport such as fare hikes, train frequencies etc.

Its their first event in my memory where they are going public. Damn cool lor. I wish I can be there to give them my support too, wanting to thank them for stimulating my mind with balanced debates on many socio-political issues and making me a less apathetic Singaporean.

I admire how strong and rational their desire to provide a voice for every Singaporean is. Makes me ponder on giving them my little support in any way I can when I get back to Singapore permanently. I have pretty much made up my mind to change my time volunteering to another organization. But none seems to fit the bill. Maybe I should become a activist too. Or anyone got any good lobang to recommend or not, i.e a place where I can volunteer my time and effort to help the less fortunate in society. But I am not really into old folks home or orphanages etc.. I don’t know how to deal with these people seriously. Hope TOC is going to make this into a monthly thing so that I can take a look on my next trip back to Singapore. But making it monthly, takes a hell out of effort out of them. After all, they don’t make the multi million bucks our ministers rightfully earn, talent retention they say.

Not in a good mood to update the blog frequently now, TOC has also made me politically depressed.

  1. Hi Yingquan,

Thank you for helping us publicise our event! It’s very much appreciated. We’re glad we helped to make you ‘less apathetic’ politically. :)

We have noted your suggestion that we make such events a monthly affair. But you’re right, it takes a whole lot of effort to organise – especially when we’re just a bunch of part-time volunteers! Haha… More details on theonlinecitizen.com about our Hong Lim park event coming up!

At the end of the day, every individual must help in shaping our society. I think political apathy is a curse which we must erased and wipe out. Else, what will we be leaving for our children?

Again, thanks for supporting us… :)

    Regards,
    Andrew Loh
